Inside finger choke
Scenario: you are in side control

  • with your left hand slide it in your opponents gi with your fingers inside it
  • with you right hand grab the gi material under his left elbow
  • straighten your body out and take your left arm and place it across his neck and try to put your elbow to the mat, apply more pressure by moving your hip over his neck

Arm and foot choke
Scenario: your are in side control

  • you have your left arm under your opponents head, with you right hand grab the gi material under his left elbow
  • slide your left hand to the right side of his neck,step over his head with your left foot and place it next to his face
  • turn your left wrist in to his neck and pull the gi and pull your heel back for the submission

Standing guard pass

Standing guard pass (one knee in butt)
Scenario: you are in your opponents guard

  • stand up and place your right knee on his butt and sit down
  • this will break his guard and then you step over with your right knee to side control

Another standing guard pass

Standing guard pass (one knee in butt)
Scenario: you are in your opponents guard

  • stand up and then point your toes together so you are pigeon toed
  • place both knees on his butt and lean back to use his weight against his (visually you almost look like a see-saw), posture up and push down on his legs to pass

Ankle lock and Knee lock

Ankle lock

Starting with your opponent standing up

  • you have a grip on his sleeves and your feet are on his hips
  • take your right leg and drop it on the mat
  • release his left sleeve and overhook his left leg with your right leg wrap it around his left leg and place your foot on his hip
  • with your left foot place it on the inside of his right thigh and push away causing him to fall
  • place a kimura grip on his shin for the ankle lock or go for the heel hook

Knee lock
starting with your opponent standing up

  • no grips, your feet are on his hips
  • underhook his left foot and place your right knee in the inside of his left leg
  • swing your left foot out and roll up onto your shoulders and wrap your leg over his butt
    he may fall onto the mat or he may keep standing but the key thing is to squeeze the knees and thrust forward with your hips

Spider guard, bicep cutter, defending the spider guard

Spider guard to a bicep cutter
Starting from your guard

  • grab both ends of your opponents sleeve
  • place both of your feet on his hips, push out take your left foot and place it on his bicep and then take your right foot and place it on the other bicep
  • take your left leg and go over his right arm, keep hold of his left sleeve, pull him onto you. His weight should be supported by your knees
  • grab his gi on the outside of his left knee, roll him over and apply pressure using your hips for the cutter

Defending the spider guard
Scenario: your opponent has you in his spider guard

  • step over his arms and sit down on them to break his grip, proceed to side control

To defend them from stepping over your arms and legs:

  • once he steps over your legs grab his belt with one hand
  • hook your feet in the inside of his legs
  • grab his belt with both hands and pull him back and the same time straighten out your legs so he falls with your chest to his back

Triangle

Triangle

Starting from your closed guard

  • open your guard, push his left hand between your legs and throw your right leg over his shoulder
  • lock your legs and raise your hips up and push his right arm across your stomach
  • reach up and with your left hand grab your right ankle, put your left foot on the mat or on his leg and push away to break him down
  • lock your feet together again in a figure four and pull down on his head for the submission
    Note: if he tries to stack you crawl back using your shoulders or transition into an armbar
