Three ways to pass standing up.

1st pass:

  • opponent is on his back, grab the gi material in the inside of his knees
  • place your right arm on the mat behind his butt
  • drop your weight on his right leg and pin it to the matt by stepping backwards
  • walk around his right leg and get into side control

2nd pass

  • opponent is on his back, grab the gi material in the inside of his knees
  • place your right arm on the mat behind his butt
  • if he blocks you, place your hip on his hip and apply pressure
  • with your right hand reach around and grab his collar
  • finish in side control

3rd pass

  • opponents feet are on your hips
  • reach over with your right hand to his right foot and grab his pant leg
  • really exaggerate and throw your hips forward and pull with your right hand until it’s clear
  • proceed to side control
