Hip throw, single leg takedown

March 10th, 2009 by jgatienza

Hip throw: 1) grab your opponents right sleeve, right hand on his collar, you are both tugging and pulling each other. 2) when you are ready step into him with your right foot and hook your right arm under his right armpit. 3) bring your hips under his and fall to your knees to flip him over you.

Single leg takedown: 1) grab your opponents right sleeve, right hand on his collar, you are both tugging and pulling each other. 2) when you are ready pull his collar gi open and “wrap” it around his shoulder/arm, and just pull back with your left hand. 3) with your right foot step in the middle of his legs and then quickly step with your left foot behind your right foot and sweep your right foot behind your opponents left foot. This motion needs to be done quickly. You will finish in his guard, but that’s okay since you get 2 points.
