D’arce choke, anaconda, omaplata, defence single leg

March 6th, 2009 by jgatienza

Your opponent is shooting in on you, you sprawl and your options are…

D’arce choke: 1) apply a gable grip around his neck and under his right shoulder/armpit. 2) squeeze your left elbows in tight to force his right across his face. 3) roll to your left side, rolling your opponent with you. 4) walk towards him and hook his left leg.

Keep walking into him if he tries to shrimp back.

Anaconda choke: 1) wrap your arms around his neck and under his right shoulder/armpit and grab your left bicep or if you have short arms grab your gi or your foremarm, place your left hand on his side or back 2) fall to your left side roll him over until you get to your right side. 3) walk your legs into him.

Defence to a single leg transition to an omaplata: your opponent has a single leg (your right leg for this example). 1) roll over your right shoulder and into an omaplata

Defence to a single leg: your opponent has a single leg (your right leg for this example). 1) with your left hand push his head down. 2) take your right hand under his left armpit and put a kimura grip. 3) push his head down some more, he will want to roll as this downward force is uncomfortable. 4) spin to his side, let loose the kimura grip and your right hand should be around his neck for side control.

Note: lay the top of your feet flat on the mat, so that you slide backwards while they are trying to push all the while you keep your weight on him.

Peruvian necktie, anaconda choke

November 13th, 2008 by jgatienza

Peruvian necktie: your opponent goes for a single leg and you sprawl. 1) wrap your arms around his head and under his right arm and apply an S grip, apply pressure on the back of his head with your right shoulder. 2)  post your right foot to the  left side of your opponent. 3) swing your left leg over his back, squeeze and pull for the submission

A variation of this is if your opponent goes for a single leg and you sprawl. 1) wrap your arms around his head and under his right arm and apply an S grip, apply pressure on the back of his head with your right shoulder. 2) roll on to your right leg on to your butt to block his right leg. 3) hook your left leg over his right leg and go for the sub.

Anaconda choke: 1) wrap your arms around his head and under his right shoulder/armpit and grab your left bicep or if you have short arms grab your gi or your foremarm, place your left hand on his side or back 2) fall to your left side roll him over until you get to your right side. 3) walk your legs into him.

Kneelock from halfguard: 1) be sure your opponent is flat on his back, check your opponents arm. 2) swing your left leg over his body and place it behind his back laying flat. 3) grab his left leg and roll over. 4) squeeze your legs together and you can cross your feet, push your hips out and pull on his heel towards you for the sub.

Ezekiel, anaconda

September 9th, 2008 by jgatienza

North south escape: find out the details on how to do this again.

Ezekiel from north south position: your opponent is on top of you, simply slide your left hand under his chin and with your right hand grab your gi sleeve and apply the choke.

Anaconda: if you find your opponent in a turtle position and your body is at the top of his head, sink your right hand under his body all the way thru to the other side under his right armpit. From there grab your left bicep or gi and place your left and by his side, squeeze your arms together, dump yourself and him onto your left side and walk towards him for the submission.

Rolling review: went light with my partner
