Passing guard, clock choke technique

October 9th, 2008 by jgatienza

Passing guard: your opponent is on his back. 1) grab both his pants sleeve and pull together and make your fist touch each other. 2) push his legs to the right. 3) turn your left shoulder to his right leg and slide it down until you reach his stomach. 4) with your left hand let go of his pant sleeve and proceed to side control.

Clock choke from the turtle position: your opponent turned into the turtle position not allowing you to go to side control. 1) place your left hand on his belt or his left side. 2) right hand grabs the back of his collar. 3) left knee is behind your opponent. 4) your right foot should be a little to the side of him. 5) using your right leg strength pull him in an angle towards your. 6) once you’ve opened him up, slide your right hand around his neck and grab his lapel. 7)  with your left hand underhook his arm and grab his left wrist. 8) drop your weight over his head and bring your head to the mat facing away from him. 9) begin to walk around him making the choke tighter.

Clock choke and modified Ezekiel

April 17th, 2008 by jgatienza

Clock choke: your opponent is in the turtle position and your hip should be on his hip applying pressure, you slide your hand deep into you his collar, switch your hips so that your right leg is in front and begin to walk around his head.

To defend this you need to protect your neck, when your opponent grabs your gi use your thumb and squeeze it between his thumb and your gi and push away. With your left hand grab the sleeve on his left arm. Post up on your right foot and shoot your left foot thru. Keep your armpit and elbow close to his shoulder. This will drive him to the ground and then proceed to mount him.

Another way to defend is to hold on to his right arm, get your hips out from under his, roll to the right and as you are both rolling, raise your left leg to help him roll over you and then proceed to mount.

Modified Ezekiel: You have your opponent’s back, you have a grip on his collar, he is defending by pulling on your arm, let go of his collar and grab your sleeve on your left arm and slide it behind his head and squeeze.

Another choke (I’m not sure of the name): You are in mounting your opponent, grab the collar on his gi (right side), keep your left leg tight to his back to prevent him from rolling, sweep your right foot under his left shoulder and mash him, reach around his head with your left arm and feed his collar that you are holding with your right hand (tip: slide your right hand down a little on the collar to be able to reach your left hand). With your free right hand grab his left pant gi and sit down for the choke.
