Guard Pass (Opponent is on his back and you are standing up):
- grab the inside of his gi pants by his knees, keep your elbows parallel with them to prevent them from looping around them
- with your right hand cross grip and grab the bottom of his gi pant
- step back and pull and push away his leg and collapse on his hip
Inverted triangle from your guard:
- grab your opponents hips, open your guard and place your feet on your opponents hips
- push out and turn to your right side, keep your feet on his hips
- place your right foot behind your left foot
- take your left foot and wrap it around his neck (from the left side), pull his sleeves
- lock up your legs for the triangle
Omaplata escape:
- put your head and shoulder to the mat
- pull away from your opponent
- roll over your right shoulder and get to your knees

Scenario: they are using the toriano pass and they are passing to the right of you
- when they pull your legs to the mat, don’t just lay there on your back, go upĀ as your legs and feet go down
- break their grip from your left knee, left hand above his wrist and your right hand goes over his elbow
- arm drag across your body and kick/drop your left leg to the mat
- grab his right leg (koala style)
- take your right leg and place it behind his heal, take your right hand and post it behind you
- drive forward to sweep him
- take your right hand and hold his pant leg down and kick your right leg out to prevent him getting half guard, place your right hand to his hip area
Using another technique with the same scenario above is to…
- get a good deep grip in his collar
- your knees have to be bent, “loading your spring” as the instructor I believe phrased it
- scootch towards the left
- as your opponent goes around, yank him down hard, this is a timing issue, this is much easier to accomplish if your opponent is moving to the right. If done right he will almost do a face plant to the mat
- take his back
I’m always open to other details…

A couple of ways to prevent your guard from being passed:
- always stick your knees in front of your opponent if he is trying to pass you, work to get back to guard.
- If your opponent is doing a heavy leg pass to your right side get your left shin in front of his body, straighten your body and pull your right leg out from under his leg and get back into guard
- if your opponents elbows are in the inside of his knees, place your knee right knee over it and pull on his right gi and collar to work your leg in and pull him into your guard or into a triangle
Guard pass
Scenario: your opponent is on his back and you are pressing into his thighs with your left shin and you have both grips in the inside of his knees
- your left hand under hooks his right leg
- * this is a quick movement with the furthest leg back (right) kick it out and pull his leg down with your right hand, throw your left leg over his left leg
- drop your shoulder to his belly
- transfer your hand grip right to left and get into side control

Standing guard pass (one knee in butt)
Scenario: you are in your opponents guard
- stand up and place your right knee on his butt and sit down
- this will break his guard and then you step over with your right knee to side control
Another standing guard pass
Standing guard pass (one knee in butt)
Scenario: you are in your opponents guard
- stand up and then point your toes together so you are pigeon toed
- place both knees on his butt and lean back to use his weight against his (visually you almost look like a see-saw), posture up and push down on his legs to pass
