You have your opponent in a triangle and he stands and stacks you and he grabs your color and begins to pass, immediately put your left hand on your opponent’s wrist and push his elbow away with your right hand, your left foot should be behind your butt and shrimp under his arm and into guard or another triangle attempt.

Escape side control: your opponent has you side control, get your feet to your butt and bridge into him and then back down and bridge the other way and drive your right arm over your head and roll him over or you can bridge towards him again and drop your right leg to the mat and get him into guard or half guard or you can roll him over (the later being my preference).
Another way to get out of side control is to shrimp. To do this you need to have your left hand under his armpit and your right hand by his hip. move your left and right feet to the left close to your butt and push away, this will break the weakest point of your opponent which is his right arm that is by your left side. This will create space for you to get back into guard or you can take your left arm and hook it over his back and escape from there.
JW says that you should be uncontrollable and that every move has a counter.
Tip: When you bridge it’s never straight back over your head rather at an angle over your head and shoulder (left or right). You should explode when doing this.

Rolled no gi today. One of the rolls I had I was told I really had good side control. I defended the triangle pretty good in one roll.
Sweep from the open guard: from your open guard you explode into your opponent, like you’re doing a crunch you go to his opposite side and trap his arm and posting your left arm behind you and driving your hips towards him and turning him over for the mount or knee to belly.
Escape from side control: when your opponent has you in side control, you bump up and shrimp out in an angle and try to establish your guard.
2nd escape from side control: when you are in your opponents side control (from the right), have the right arm against his chest, the left arm should be on your chest, bump up and slide your left arm under and over his right arm and push over your head and pull your self from under him.
